The Opportunity

Apple's Marcom organization defines how hundreds of millions connect with our products and vision. Our Social Strategy function shapes future brand engagement. The Marcom LA team seeks a Social Strategist – a strategic, innovative expert – to develop groundbreaking social narratives for our iconic services, and pivotal brand initiatives. This role demands a candidate who identifies emerging trends, anticipates market shifts, and translates insights into world-class social experiences that drive engagement and advocacy. You will join an integrated team of world-class strategists, brand managers, creatives, and producers, advancing the capabilities of social communication.

What You'll Do

You will shape Apple's voice and presence on a global stage, at an expert leadership level by:

  • Develop Strategic Narratives: Identify cultural, audience, and product insights, translating them into impactful social strategies that advance Apple's business objectives and consumer connection— generating global discussion and positive brand affinity for Apple Services.
  • Architect Strategic Roadmaps: Create comprehensive social ecosystems and go-to-market strategies for key service launches, product education and ongoing brand presence across paid, owned, and creator channels.
  • Drive Creative Excellence: Inspire creative development by crafting clear, compelling, and actionable briefs that lead to effective, socially-native content. Go beyond media best practices to define inspiring, cultural insight-driven strategic territories, providing continuous guidance and elevating creative output from concept through detailed rollout plans.
  • Advance Innovative Approaches: Maintain an informed perspective on social and cultural topics, actively researching and applying emerging trends, platforms (e.g., short-form video, editorial narratives, community-first spaces), behaviors, and technologies to ensure Apple's leadership in social innovation. Proactively contribute new thinking, identify social opportunities, and lead insight development, including primary research.
  • Cultivate Global Communities: Strategize and implement initiatives to grow and engage global communities, fostering authentic connection and advocacy around Apple's brand and products.
  • Measure and Optimize Impact: Establish clear, measurable metrics of success, meticulously analyze performance data, and translate learnings into continuous improvements. Contribute to the analysis and interpretation of social research (e.g., brand lift studies, social listening, ad recall studies).
  • Communicate and Influence: Articulate strategic visions, gain consensus across diverse teams and leadership, and foster a collaborative environment for innovative work.

Key Qualifications

We seek an individual who consistently delivers exceptional results and drives innovation with:

  • 10+ years of experience in social creative strategy, with a proven track record leading significant brand or editorial initiatives for world-class brands or agencies. Experience should include roles at advertising agencies and/or prominent social platforms (e.g., Meta, TikTok).
  • Extensive expertise in the social media landscape, including established and emerging platforms, formats, algorithms, and content trends. Deep understanding of global social culture, creator ecosystems, and community dynamics, with a clear point of view on social media's evolution and future trajectory.
  • Strong strategic acumen and proven ability to define and execute effective socially-native creative work that generates engagement, drives cultural relevance, and sets industry standards.
  • High analytical and synthesis skills, with ability to distill complex insights into clear, actionable strategies and compelling creative briefs. Proven ability to mine platforms for emerging consumer, cultural, or category trends, leveraging them to craft compelling insights, narratives, and briefs. A walking encyclopedia of inspiring social media case studies.
  • Demonstrated success in thought leadership and influence across cross-functional teams (creatives, brand strategists, producers and marketing teams) to deliver iconic work within complex, collaborative environments. A natural collaborator connecting insights and solutions across lines of business for cross-functional teams.
  • Proven capacity to challenge conventional thinking, identify innovative solutions, and proactively experiment with new approaches in social storytelling.
  • Skilled in articulating and gaining adoption for new creative strategies, mobilizing teams and stakeholders around bold ideas with clarity and conviction.
  • Significant editorial social experience shaping strategy for dynamic, always-on social presences that continuously engage and grow audiences. Wins in fostering product education as successful content / engagement is a plus.
  • Strong media acumen, understanding the broader communications ecosystem and ability to define/measure key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and understanding of various Apple Services and their competitive categories.
  • Global IQ with demonstrated experience and deep partnership in key Geo markets that exemplify your knowledge and ability to advocate for hyper-local approaches specific to nuanced social landscapes outside of the US
