Business Affairs - Apps Curation and Clearances Manager (Mac)
Job Summary:
The Marcom group leads all global advertising and marketing communications. Within Marcom, the Business Affairs Apps Team manages third-party app and game content used across marketing — from keynotes to retail, digital, and broadcast.
The Apps Curation and Clearances Manager is responsible for securing the rights and clearances of third-party IP within the context of product marketing. Specifically, this role will primarily focus around third-party apps & games for marketing of our Mac product line.
This role blends creative judgment with rights management, and ensures that every app we show is appropriate, authentic, and cleared for a wide variety of marketing placements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with app developers and publishers to secure gratis assets & content clearances, ensuring their apps are represented accurately and respectfully
- Collaborate with Creative, Product Marketing, Legal, and Developer Relations to bring the best third-party content into campaigns
- Manage asset intake, metadata, and rights tracking through internal systems
- Identify and mitigate potential IP or brand risks throughout creative development
- Solve complex IP & licensing challenges using creativity, risk mitigation, and relationship management
- You will monitor project production to ensure compliance with procedures & policies, and to ensure faithful usage of third-party IP
- You’ll be responsible for identifying and mitigating risk throughout the creative brainstorming, production, and execution phases of marketing projects
- You’ll handle & traffic digital assets from external partners and inventory them in a digital rights management system for posterity
- You’ll work closely with Legal to receive guidance, establish processes, and take ownership of the usage of legal disclaimers in our projects
Key Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, licensing, or digital content production (apps/games experience preferred)
- Familiarity with copyright, trademark, and IP basics as they relate to creative content
- Deep interest in the products and the app ecosystem — especially Mac
- Ability to balance creative instincts with business and legal considerations
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, global environment
Preferred Background
BA/BS or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, law, or related field.
Experience in advertising, game publishing, or app development a plus.
