The Global Marketing Communications group leads all aspects of the companies advertising and marketing to ensure the flawless development and execution of world-class communications. Newsroom breaks news on products and initiatives, and is the official word from the company. We create Newsroom stories in collaboration with a variety of team members spanning Corporate Communications, The Global Marketing Communications group, Product Marketing, and other teams. Newsroom stories are published on the company website and in a channel in the News app. We also localize content for Newsrooms and other media across the globe. We're growing! Key Qualifications
- 7-10 years of related experience within news media, an editorial publication, a digital advertising agency, and/or an in-house creative group for a major or upcoming brand.
- Significant editorial and copyediting experience at a premier publication, design or financial firm, corporate marketing communications department, or ad agency.
- You are committed to attention to detail and have the ability to be flexible, to adapt quickly to change, and to focus and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- You have a firm grounding in U.S. English, usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and are familiar with various usage guides (AP Style, Chicago, Strunk & White, etc.).
- You are aware of current SEO standard methodologies.
- You remain curious, ask questions, and dig deep to find solutions.
- You have a familiarity with the company and its products and services.
- Newsroom is considered to be always-on. You are willing to work when called for (sometimes late, early, weekends, on the fly).
Description
- Copyedit, proofread, and lightly fact-check Newsroom stories for grammar, punctuation, style, accuracy, voice, and tone.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Communications story lead to build accurate, objective, and concise Newsroom copy.
- Track text changes and edits requested by Corporate Communications, Product Marketing, executives, and others within an Newsroom copy deck format.
- Ensure proper names, product and brand names, and dates as part of the review process.
- Manage and update the Newsroom Style Guide, and check for grammar, punctuation, and style, ensuring that the voice and tone of Newsroom is consistent across each post.
- Craft concise metadata and recommend the right words to hyperlink.
- Review each CMS build for correct implementation of the latest copy.
- Communicate updates to Geo Newsroom teams for localization of each post.
- Occasionally rewrite headlines, subheads, captions, and copy as part of the editing and peer review process.
- Work with Newsroom Senior Writing Manager to document and enforce Newsroom copy style for broader Corporate Communications and The Global Marketing Communications group.
Education
A bachelor’s degree is required.
Hours may fluctuate based on project needs.
