Business Affairs Project Manager
Job Summary
Marcom is Apple’s Global Marketing Communications group. We oversee all of Apple’s advertising and marketing to ensure the flawless development and execution of world-class communications.
Apple’s Business Affairs team curates and secures rights clearances in connection with the marketing of Apps, Music, TV, Movies, Podcasts, Safari content, and other third party content in all Apple marketing communications.
The BA Senior Project Manager oversees the implementation of that third party content in those communications working cross functionally and liaising between different teams in the studio, the BA Asset Managers and BA teammates in Geos around the world.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 7-10 years experience in rights related positions in the advertising and / or the entertainment industry;
- Working knowledge of copyright, trademark and licensing in the area of entertainment or advertising law.
- A solid understanding of intellectual property rights (a law degree is helpful but not required), ideally gained from experience working in a marketing, advertising and / or agency environment.
- Proven team leadership experience and success.
- Independent, self-motivated, and flexible. Excellent communication skills, able to deal with rapid change in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Exceptional organizational, prioritization and time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Successful in working in a creatively driven organization.
- Highly resourceful, proactive contributor who can work both independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously.

The BA Project Manager:
- Independently works cross functionally on specific groups of deliverables across the studio and across Apple.
- Takes leadership with internal Marcom teams and with other teams in Apple to understand each project’s deliverables and the type of third party content to be featured in each deliverable.
- Attends kickoff meetings with creative and production teams.
- Ensures clear communication with BA Asset Managers as to the needs for third party content, project details, creative direction and deadlines.
- Liaises with design, creative, producers, screen and content production teams to understand each brief in order to hand off the correct third party content from the BA Asset Managers to the production teams.
- Briefs BA Asset Managers on third party content clearance when content is creatively locked.
- Oversees the approval of each third party asset, both as a built screen and in situ.
- Briefs BA teammates in Geos on third party content needs so they can source appropriate, relevant and available content for their respective Geos on a timely basis.
- Manages Marcom Business Affairs digital tools, creating matrices that detail each third party content use for every asset and its localization.
- Advises and inspires on process and tools implementation and improvement including ways to improve process and tools throughout the studio.
- Provides production teams with general Business Affairs support pertaining to their projects.
- Assists in initiating and managing risk-related conversations with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Maintains regular communication with team leads to ensure proper information flow, clear action items, and timely issue resolution.
- Manages a heavy workload of third-party clearances.
- Manages and implements the entry of the Business Affairs team into Marcom’s Planning tool.
- Trains new and returning producers throughout the studio on the role of the Business Affairs team and how to interact with it.
