The Marcom Post Production Department (PPD) is a full-service post production organization comprised of the following divisions: creative editorial, grading, audio, and visual effects. The grading division works across all post production divisions. The PPD teams have a sense of pride in the work, a shared sense of purpose as a group and is known for delivering the highest quality creative. The ideal candidate is technical and creative.

Description 

The Color Generalist will be responsible for supporting the colorist department leads, providing session support and operational support.  They will work closely with the colorist collaborating on various aspects of the grading process as well as interact with various teams across Marcom. The grading team plays a critical role in the technical and creative process of grading world class images and come to Apple to do the best work of their lives.

 

Responsibilities include

  • Project Prep: Preparing and gathering all assets/medaia, organizing folder structures, and applying basic viewing LUTs so the lead colorist is ready to  grade when clients arrive.
  • Conforming: Aligning the editor's offline timeline (EDL, XML, or AAF) with high-resolution camera RAW footage.
  • Match Grading & Revisions: Conform pickup shots and multi-paste ensuring the correct color gets applied to new shots
  • Render & Delivery: Render out media
  • Render & Quality Control (QC): render out media and QC. QC the finished grade for visual artifacts, banding, or color shifts before final sign-off.

Experience
7+ years

Expertise

  • Understand color space management:  ACES color management, TCAM, HDR10, Dolby Vision
  • Understand media codex, frame rates, aspect ratio
  • Understand clor correction systems: BaseLight, DaVinci Resolve
  • Working knowledge of various cameras
  • Working knowledge of: FCPX, Adobe Premiere
  • Intermediate XML/EDL conforming in BaseLight and Resolve.
  • Strong attention to detail with an eye for finishing, composition and color.
