Job Summary

The Marcom Post Production Department (PPD) is a full-service post production organization comprised of the following divisions: creative editorial, grading, audio, and visual effects. The VFX division works across all post production divisions. The PPD teams have a sense of pride in the work, a shared sense of purpose as a group and is known for delivering the highest quality creative. The ideal candidate is highly technical, creative, and has a proven track record of delivering on large scale productions. 

Description 

The Color Generalist will be responsible for supporting the colorist department leads, providing session support and operational support.  They will work closely with the colorist collaborating on various aspects of the grading process as well as interact with various teams across Marcom. The grading team plays a critical role in the technical and creative process of grading world class images and come to Apple to do the best work of their lives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prep, organize assets and conform timelines for color grading in SDR, HDR, Dolby Vision and Immersive Video.
  • Pre-color timelines and color manage sessions in the following color spaces: ACES, Filmlight TCAM and Da Vinci Color Management.
  • Grading tasks include: color matching pick up shots and vfx updates.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure assets are prepped for grading sessions and creative reviews.
  • QC and deliver final renders.
  • Assist with room maintenance, monitor calibration and various engineering tasks.
  • Ability and willingness to work unpredictable hours, nights, weekends and holidays.

Experience

7+ years

Expertise

  • Proficient in ACES color management, TCAM, OpenColorIO (OCIO), HDR10, Dolby Vision, 3D workflows and AR/VR workflows.
  • Deep working knowledge of various cameras, VFX, photo and graphics file types.
  • Intermediate XML/EDL conforming in BaseLight and Resolve. 
  • Strong attention to detail with an eye for finishing, composition and color.
  • Current with industry trends in creative color grading as well as color science, camera and display technology.
  • Working knowledge of: FCPX, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Compressor, Nuke and Flame.
  • Deliver results, meeting milestones and deadlines.
