Job Summary
Marcom oversees all advertising and marketing to ensure the flawless development and execution of world-class communications.
The Design Team is responsible for the design and art direction of core communications —including product launches and seasonal campaigns—across Retail, Channel, Packaging, Keynote, and Events. Working in a highly collaborative manner, a primary focus of the Design Team is to define the look and feel of all product imagery through experimentation, critical thinking, and extraordinary attention to detail.
This role is for an Art Director position on the Packaging Design Team
The Art Director is an integral member of the team creating innovative and compelling work that meets the requirements outlined in creative briefs—from ideation to execution. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing work that inspires both current and potential customers for one of the most beloved brands.
Key Qualifications
- You have at least 10+ years of design, packaging and art direction experience with an expert ability to develop innovative creative work across packaging and print media.
- You are well-versed in graphic design, branding, packaging, photography, and art direction as it pertains to print, digital, and motion.
- You have excellent design skills accompanied by the ability to guide and evaluate, and if necessary, redirect creative development.
- You are naturally curious and passionate about design and packaging — with a keen awareness of the evolving landscape of available tools, technologies, resources, and trends as it pertains to print and packaging design.
- You are a motivated and driven art director and packaging designer that collaborates well with a team to find simple solutions to complex problems.
- You're a strong communicator with great presentation skills that is able to articulate ideas in a clear manner, engage in healthy debate, and accept directional feedback. Must be able to communicate effectively both up and down a creative organization.
- You effectively lead junior creative staff members, vendors, freelancers, and photographers as needed.
- You have good organization skills to file work in a manner that can be shared with the team.
- Excellent skills with design software, primarily the Adobe Creative Suite, especially illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Keynote.
- Experience with 3D software and some animation is a plus, such as Keyshot, C4D and After Effects.
- Excellent Typography, and type-setting skills.
- Artistic Illustration skills is a plus.
- History of reviewing print and production mechanicals, and light-room experience with a laser-eye for details.

- Brainstorms, coordinates, and collaborates frequently in order to bring to life Apple’s key elements of graphic design for packaging and art direction.
- Inspires the team to pursue new creative solutions while also being directly involved with the process.
- Leads the successful creation and production of design solutions, follows briefs and creative direction.
- Plans and directs aspects of assigned projects to deliver superior design in accordance with project constraints and parameters.
- Delivers persuasive creative presentations to executive staff members.
- Dives deep into the details but also guide the work towards bigger-picture objectives.
- Multi-tasks on design projects that require both conceptual and functional thinking with a tireless work ethic.
- Reacts quickly to new information, opinions, and direction to strategically pivot when necessary.
- Provides thoughtful guidance to junior creative staff, with an eye on mentorship and knowledge growth.
- Review print mechanicals meticulously prior to print-production.
Education
A Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field is preferred.
