Job Summary

Marcom Technical Device Managers work within Marcom Production Operations group and support video production and photography projects. They manage the devices being filmed for marketing and training purposes.

Technical Device Managers support our producers and creatives and provide product expertise before, during and in post for productions. They know anything and everything about our Apple devices and larger ecosystem of services. They ensure released and unreleased products remain true to function and act as a liaison between engineering, product marketing, branding, content and production. They also work with Creatives to prototype, load, and screen capture content on devices. Some of this content is used in launch videos, Keynotes, guided tours, digital signage, and advertisements. 

Key Qualifications

Technical Device Manager must be hands-on and have a deep understanding of Apple hardware and software products. They also have experience working in a production environment, especially with video and film. 

  • You have extensive and proven experience with Apple hardware/software products
  • You have video and photo production experience
  • You have networking and technical troubleshooting experience
  • You remain curious, asking questions and digging deep to find solutions 
  • You have project management experience
  • You follow through with commitments and fosters mutual trust with fellow team members and internal customers
  • You are resourceful and have proven technical problem solving skills
  • You possess extraordinary communication and time management skills, and you can work independently as well as in a team environment. 
  • You have good judgment and can follow security practices to protect our unreleased devices from exposure
  • Experience using creative tools such as Photoshop, After effects, Final Cut a plus
  • Unix scripting and command line experience a plus
  • Problem-solving skills are key and ability to perform detailed precision work with a high degree of accuracy in fast paced environment with tight deadlines; excellent memory and eye for detail
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while delivering an exceptional customer and client experience.

Description

As a member of the Technical Device Management team, you will play a critical role in helping the production team create marketing and training content for Apple’s released and unreleased products. 

  • Provide technical product expertise to our producers and creatives during pre-production and production
  • Provide clarity on usage scenarios, device / app behaviors in line with PM intentions
  • Manage device logistics and shipments of unreleased products around the world
  • Responsible for screen captures, data management, and content loading on devices
  • Troubleshoot devices and device networking issues
  • Prototype content for creatives prior to a shoot
  • Create and load screens on our devices, as needed
  • Be the liaison between all of our cross functionals teams and a resource to answer all technical questions about our products
  • Follow security protocols on set and make sure our devices and IP are not exposed 
  • Request and prepare inventory of products prior to a shoot
  • Continuously learn and be an expert in everything Apple
  • Willingness to go above and beyond 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree preferred
  • 5 to 7 years working in a technical production role
  • Experience working Apple products both hardware and software
  • Good understanding of production workflows and signal processing
  • Apple Genius experience a plus

Additional Requirements

  • Must have valid passport with expiration date minimum of two years from hire date
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must have access to a car
  • Occasional multiple overnight stays for destination shoots and airline travel. 
  • Must have access to reliable transport in the Bay Area to be able to respond to varied and changing production needs.
  • Occasionally required to spend long periods of time at a computer screen. 
  • Must be able to work in unique environments outside of the standard and normal office environment. (ie. Hiking in a jungle, walking varying distances, working in variable climates and conditions, etc.)
  • May be required to travel domestically, and occasionally internationally, for shoots.
  • May be required to travel for several continuous weeks, as project demands.
  • Travel may be up to 50% of any given quarter, depending on production needs
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week from the main office. 
  • Overtime hours may be required depending on project, with little or zero notice.
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively while on production sets and remote locations
  • Ability to work different shifts and schedules to support production shoots (swing and/or graveyard on occasion)
  • Must be able to time manage effectively to ensure deadlines, schedules, as well as meetings are not missed
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds, to load and unload equipment needed for production.
QUALIFICATION/ LICENSURE :
  • Preferred years of experience : 5+ Years
  • Travel Required : 25% or less
  • Business Day Timings: 9 AM to 5 PM
