Description:

Our creative and technical team is looking for an early-career Stereo Compositor to help create immersive videos. This position is for someone who gets excited about work that asks them to use technical, artistic, and problem solving skills to get the job done. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of professional compositing experience in Commercial, TV, or Film, with strong core comp fundamentals and a real curiosity about stereoscopic and immersive imagery. Stereo experience is welcome but not expected. We will teach the stereoscopic and immersive side to an artist who brings solid craft, good instincts, and a willingness to learn.

You will be part of a small team, so you can expect direct access to senior artists, regular feedback on your work, and clear direction on what to tackle next. We are looking for someone who works efficiently under time constraints, is comfortable asking questions early rather than guessing, and is willing to take on any artistic task, big or small, in order to support the team and the project. Keeping an organized work environment and following established procedures matters here, and you will help document new ones as they evolve. This role is critical to the future development of many different projects, so if innovation and all the challenges that come along with it is exciting rather than daunting, this role could be a fit for you.

Description
The Stereo Compositor will be supporting a series of internal original projects. The tasks will span from technical work requiring mathematical accuracy and problem solving that supports research and development, to producing the best invisible VFX that often goes unnoticed but is critical to the quality of the project. Day to day, expect a mix of roto, tracking, paint, animation, creation of elements, and matte extractions, starting with well-defined shots and taking on more ownership as you get up to speed.

Because the immersive format is new, many of the tools you will work with are still in development. You will learn them alongside the rest of the team and be asked for constructive feedback on how they perform. There is no expectation that you arrive knowing our pipeline, but there is an expectation that you dig in, take notes, and get better at it quickly.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional compositing experience in Commercial, TV, or Film
  • Proficient in Nuke, with a working command of its core compositing toolset
  • Strong fundamentals in roto, paint, tracking, and matte extraction, with a good eye for what makes a comp hold up
  • Understands the fundamentals of color theory and lighting, and uses them to make images that feel believable
  • Able to balance quality of work against a schedule, and to give an honest estimate of how long a task will take
  • Remains positive, problem solves when hitting roadblocks, and is not afraid to ask questions for more clarity
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, and a genuine interest in learning stereo and immersive workflows
  • Able to maintain organized projects, consistent file naming, and directory structure
  • Team player that thrives with collaboration and knowledge sharing, and who is receptive to notes and direction
  • Interest in staying up to date with new techniques and advances made in VFX compositing workflows
  • Willingness to expand knowledge into other compositing software
  • Reel that showcases recent work, including school or personal projects, with breakdowns for supervisors to review

Preferred Qualifications

  • Any hands-on exposure to 3D, VR, 180°/360°, or immersive content, including school or personal work count
  • Familiarity with Nuke’s stereo compositing and immersive tools
  • Experience working with live-action captured stereoscopic media, specifically projects designed for stereoscopic exhibition
  • Basic scripting or comfort with technical troubleshooting
