Marcom - Business Affairs Clearance Specialist, App Store
Job Summary:
The App Store Clearance Specialist role is responsible for securing the rights and clearances of third-party IP in connection with the marketing of Apps and other third party content, and maintaining and preserving industry relationships.
Key Qualifications:
Relevant Experience: 7-10 years relevant experience on a Business Affairs, or content licensing team at a creative agency or other content-focused industry, content production company, or App-focused brand
Experience with Licensing and Contracts: Ability to draw conclusions from working knowledge of issues and risks that impact the area of rights licensing, including copyright and trademark law, public domain, fair use, rights of publicity
Knowledge of Industry Standards: Understanding of App Store guidelines and policies and awareness of trends and developments in the app market, including new regulations, emerging technologies and changing user expectations
Marketing Expertise: Understanding of varied Marketing channels and placements (digital marketing, social media marketing, print marketing, OOH, etc.)
Skills & Competencies: Demonstrated ability to work across multiple projects with varying ranges of complexity
Proven ability to exercise sound, strategic, and executable legal & business judgment
Demonstrated skill in concise and clear written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
Calm approach, sound judgment, organized, excels at time management
Excellent negotiation skills
Language Requirement: Familiarity with Southeast Asian culture and languages (Thai, Vietnamese, Bahasa and/or Tagalog)
Description:
Act as a core member of Apple’s Global Marketing Business Affairs team, partnering with various internal stakeholders across Marketing, Services, Legal, Business, and Product teams to drive successful outcomes.
Review and clear third-party App & Game content being considered for placement in Apple’s Marketing, maintaining and improving a system for intake of clearance requests, that includes timely, transparent status, efficient processing within strict deadlines, and world-class developer experience.
Uphold clearance standards that align with global Marcom Business Affairs objectives
Address complex IP and licensing issues. Employ creative problem-solving, risk mitigation strategies, and relationship management to support creative objectives.
Build rapport and facilitate connection between multiple stakeholders across the organization, providing strategic options to internal teams, ensuring proper compliance and appropriate usage of third-party IP
Identify and mitigate risk throughout creative brainstorming, production, and execution phases of marketing projects
Process digital assets from external partners and track them in an internal asset management system
Partner with Legal for guidance on trademark and legal issues and to provide business context for contract negotiations
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required. JD or MBA desirable.
